Job Summary

  • Provides analytical and tactical armed protective support for a centralized security operations center. 
  • Utilizes sophisticated security systems and technologies for intrusion analysis, subtle event detection, video analytics, and incident management. 
  • Responds to, assesses, and investigates security events to determine associated threats and appropriate response. 
  • Exercises independent decision making in a high-stress environment and manages multiple priorities with consistent results. 
  • Assesses incoming threat streams to develop accurate conclusions on security events at facilities. 
  • Utilizes strong critical thinking skills to evaluate suspicious activities and pre-operational indicators occurring at or near company site. 
  • Manages electronic access control systems to monitor and facilitate response for automated alarm systems. 
  • Coordinates with county and state agencies to facilitate emergency response. 
  • Interacts with law enforcement during routine operations, drills, or emergencies at company facilities. 
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the safe handling, firing and maintenance of assigned weaponry. 
  • Controls access to and patrols all areas. 
  • Controls personnel, vehicle and package or cargo access, in accordance with company policy and security procedures. 
  • Searches vehicles, personnel, and possessions prior to entry to facility. 
  • Assists in providing orientation, training, and retraining of security personnel. 
  • Assist in developing, maintaining, and implementing security procedures. 
  • Adheres to departmental security policies and procedures. 
  • Prepares required security reports. 
  • Maintains security documentation, including electronic security systems and hardware. 
  • Ensures regular security assessments for facility are conducted. 
  • Assists in implementing effective security countermeasures, according to assigned plans, in response to increased threats. 
  • Ensures precision in application of security procedures and technical application integral to threat detection countermeasures. 
  • Manages emergency notification procedures in accordance with company response plans. 
  • Works in a team environment to improve processes and company’s overall security posture.
  • Maintains fitness for duty in accordance with company policy. 
  • Maintains certification as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Minimum of 5 years direct experience carrying a firearm in the course of duty, to include prior civilian law enforcement or prior military police experience.  Note:  A Master's degree will count as one year towards the experience requirement.  A partial year of six months or more will be rounded up to one year.

Specific requirements include the following:

  • Successful completion of an Accredited Basic Law Enforcement academy, required.
  • Experience responding to public service calls in a sworn capacity in a federal, state, or local government agency. 
  • Prior training and experience in armed threat response strongly preferred. 
  • Ability to meet and maintain the necessary Corporate Intelligence & Security requirements for eligibility to carry a firearm. 
  • Experience with laws, codes, and government regulatory processes to ensure compliance. 
  • Ability to understand security concepts in providing critical infrastructure protection at a security control center operation. 
  • Ability to understand Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Standards in accordance with and enforceable by the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) and how it applies to Dominion Energy.
