Position Summary:

We are currently seeking an experienced and highly skilled Technical Lead for our Observability Operations team.  This role is crucial for managing and optimizing our core observability and event management platforms to perform at scale, migrating telemetry from legacy platforms to modern solutions, deploying of solutions to improve current observability capabilities and instrument new applications and platforms, and continuous improvement of our event management solutions including event correlation, automated remediation capabilities, and AIOps insights and actions.

As the Technical Lead, you will architect, engineer, optimize, and support our modern observability platforms, leveraging modern observability solutions such as AppDynamics, Grafana Stack, Splunk, and numerous custom observability solutions. You will manage and oversee migration from Legacy platforms such as Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring, Netcool Omnibus, and OpenText Operations Bridge Manager and Sitescope to our modern Enterprise solutions leveraging deployment automation and observability-as-code for instrumentation.  You will partner with Operations teams to integrate and correlate data and events from network, storage, compute and middleware observability solutions to enhance observability, reduce mean time to detect and resolve incidents, and improve proactive issue prevention. A strong background in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), modern observability and event management practices, dashboard and synthetic monitor development, source code management (Git), and open-source technologies is key, as this role involves solutioning in a fast-paced, chaotic environment with significant opportunities for growth and innovation.  The successful candidates will provide technical direction and guidance for our observability operations, and play a key role in ensuring our observability solutions meet the current and future needs of CVS Health’s dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Drive innovation and continuous improvement in the observability and event management space, identifying and realizing opportunities to optimize observability across our network, storage, compute, middleware, midrange, and mainframe platforms, and our cloud environments, and our enterprise APIs.  Drive innovation in event management processes and workflows, improving event correlation and enrichment, and leveraging AI to recommend and drive automated incident prevention and remediation processes you will develop.

  • Leadership and Direction: Establish technical standards and provide technical direction and guidance for other operations engineers, team members, and MSPs. Share knowledge and best practices to enhance the overall capability of the team.

  • Deployment and Implementation: Deploy and implement modern observability solutions to meet organizational needs. Ensure successful integration of observability, event management, and notification tools and technologies within the existing environment.  Work with partners to migrate legacy monitoring to modern solutions, ensuring seamless integration, correlation, and visualization of data to support real-time decision-making..  Work with the observability engineering team to provide solutions for new requirements that arise, by leveraging existing or developing new solutions.
