Senior Server Network Engineer

Responsibilities for an engineer include researching new technologies and upgrades and determining their effectiveness; engineering and integrating new and existing technologies, tools, and applications into the PHS environment; documenting decisions, designs, and installation instructions; and training the appropriate internal resources. On call support is usually a requirement for an Engineer. These responsibilities span the Providence Health System facilities throughout the Oregon region. At times, engineers will be expected to assist PHS IS employees in other service areas where PHP equipment resides.

Key Requirements and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Tech Leadership
  • Ability to provide thought leadership on new and existing WAN/LAN network solutions
  • Ability to collaborate effectively w/ other network engineers and build consensus for solutions
  • Ability to work independently to meet project timelines for new and existing WAN/LAN network solutions (Project Tasks)
  • Ability to drive and orchestrate troubleshooting of complex network issues with multiple vendors and team members.
• Communication Skills 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Executive leaders about network issues and activities
  • Ability to break down complex network solutions to clear actions and steps
  • Ability to communicate and document opportunities for efficiency and cost savings with changes to network architecture
  • Ability to communicate and document detailed steps required to implement or augment network changes to WAN/LAN (Project Tasks)
• Extensive Expert Experience SPINE/LEAF Network Architecture
  • Expert experience w/ Arista and CISCO switches and routers in multi-site WAN (Architecture, Design, Operations)
  • Expert experience in the design and deployment of segmentation of LAN services for secure network services (SDLC)
  • Expert experience w/ SDWAN (Architecture, Design, Operations)
  • Expert experience w/ Load Balancing services (F5, Cisco, etc.)
  • Advanced experience w/ Wireless Services (Meraki)
  • Advanced experience w/ Firewall services (Palo Alto, Cisco, etc.)
• Network Diagram and Design Creation
  • Creation of network diagrams of the PHP WAN environment (Sites, Circuits, Network Service, Internet Egress and Ingress, traffic flow, etc.)
  • Creation of detailed network diagrams of the PHP LAN environment (multiple sites, datacenters)
  • Creation of a detailed network information matrix capturing DHCP configurations related to LAN and WIRELESS networks

Required Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's Degree -OR- a combination of equivalent education and work experience
• Upon hire: IT engineering certifications (MCSE, MCSD, or CNE) may be considered to supplement experience where the same or similar accountabilities could not be substantiated
• 6 or more years of IT related experience
• 4 or more years of industry experience supporting production level Windows servers in a 24x7 environment
• Experience providing technical and/or work process guidance and direction to team members
• Experience at creating, assigning and following up on task across multiple technology disciplines
• Experience in two or more of the following sub-specialties associated with Windows based sever management: Active Directory, Virtual Machine, Linux-based OS, Citrix, Exchange Server, IIS, SAN, Back-ups, DNS/DHCP/WINS, Design and Architecture, Print Services, specific business critical applications, Anti-Virus deployment and support.
• Experience of th
