The Medical Records Specialist assists the Behavioral Health team with medical records, mailing claims and other special projects. This candidate must demonstrate exceptional customer service skills with the ability to multi-task time sensitive duties and effectively communicate with internal customers.
Position Details: Full-Time, M-F. This is a hybrid role, with two days in the office per week.
Pay: $19 hourly.
RESPONSIBIITIES & JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Medical Records- Responsible for compiling, preparing, and auditing patient medical records and ensuring that records are submitted in a timely manner, utilizing clinical information and knowledge of Medical Necessity criteria to effectively communicate plan of care to insurance case managers while conducting initial, concurrent, and discharge reviews to optimize benefits and reimbursements.
- Office Administration – Will be responsible for requesting and ensuring the office has necessary supplies and equipment for the printing and mailing claim forms and medical records.
- Auditing- Will be responsible for assisting the Customer Success Managers/AR Supervisors in auditing medical records to standards and providing feedback.
- Client Confidentiality – Must maintain confidentiality of all pertinent patient care information to assure patient rights are protected.

Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- Experience in Behavioral Healthcare
- Must have knowledge of alcoholism, chemical dependency and co-occurring disorders.
Additional Requirements/Skills:
- Experience with electronic medical records preferred.
- Demonstrate knowledge of State and Federal regulations, ASAM standards as they pertain to the job expectations.
- Possess the ability to make independent decisions when the circumstance warrants such action.
- Must have the ability to multitask in a dynamic (often fast-paced,) high-stress environment and prioritize tasks as necessary based on level of importance.
- Ability to manage time effectively and work with minimal supervision.
