Job Description:

Summary:

The Center for Student Belonging (CSB) is seeking a graduate student to serve as the Graduate Coordinator for Research within the Center’s portfolio. We are looking for a collaborative team player who is passionate about enhancing the student experience, engaging with campus climate, and building intentional partnerships with campus offices and stakeholders to share stories and experiences that reflect the richness of our diverse community. This position reports to the Associate Director for Student Equity, Access, and Retention, Center for Student Belonging.

The Center for Student Belonging serves as a principal leader, resource and support in fostering a campus environment where students feel a profound sense of belonging, connection, and the ability to thrive. Through education, outreach, and advocacy, we create opportunities for students to grow at AU and beyond. CSB envisions an American University where students of all backgrounds and lived experiences feel welcomed, valued, seen, appreciated and fully integrated into the community, fostering an environment where they can realize their full potential.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides front desk coverage by greeting visitors, answering phones, and performing basic administrative tasks.

  • Maintaining quality controls standards to preserve the integrity of data and findings.

  • Scheduling and conducting interviews with Campus Population (Students).

  • Selecting a place to conduct interviews and getting permission from all participants.

  • Analyzing data using various statistical methods.

  • Writing reports to summarize data and the implications of the results.

  • Determine areas of research to increase knowledge in the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Field (DEIB).

  • Identify sources of funding, prepare research proposals and submit funding applications.

  • Plan and perform experiments and surveys.

  • Collect, record and analyze data.

  • Interpret data analysis results and draw inferences and conclusions.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • Part-Time.

  • 20 hours per week.

  • Have availability for CORE days (Monday & Friday) from 10am-4pm.

Salary Range:

  • $18.50 per hour.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Candidates must have a strong understanding of various AU platforms for planning, advertising, and promoting CDI signature events, as well as experience or interest in facilitating dialogues and programming that foster meaningful engagement within the campus community.
