Director of Behavioral Health, Urgent Care

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Director is responsible for assisting in the QMHP oversight for patients served at MHA. This includes completion of intakes and other diagnostic evaluations and short-term therapy as needed in collaboration with hospital discharges, and outpatient and case management needs. The Director will be a key contact for internal staff, external providers, and community at large in assisting with identifying adult and child needs and facilitating those clientele into MHA programs.

ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Completes intakes and provides short-term therapy, in collaboration with hospital discharges and outpatient needs. 
2. Works with VCBH and other local hospitals and Comcare to coordinate hospital discharges including transitioning those client’s into MHA programs.
3. Serves as a point of contact for VCBH, and other community hospitals and agencies for consultation regarding what MHA offers that could fit needs presented and facilitates needed action steps.
4. Serves as point for adults being reviewed with interdisciplinary team by prioritizing agenda to staff, staffing and updating progress as known, and facilitating feedback into actionable items with services. 
5. Serves as a liaison with Comcare and the MCO’s regarding client care and needed collaboration or documentation.
6. Completes diagnostic assessments as needed for case management waitlists.  
7. Assists outpatient and community-based staff with problem-solving and risk assessment, development of suicide care management plan (or suicide care pathway), provide brief crisis therapy, and/or solution-focused brief therapy. 
8. Assists with QMHP oversight with treatment plans reviewing clinical information and needs and utilization. 
9. Completes peer reviews monitoring for appropriate utilization, services, diagnosis, and  documentation. 
10. Leads the Zero Suicide model for the agency to maintain a comprehensive approach agency  wide to suicide care. 
11. Leads the agency with student recruitment for positions across the agency; communicates with local universities to instill ongoing connections and provides supervision to students to help fulfill practicum or internship requirements. Works with supervisors to bridge student needs and program needs. 
12. Represents MHA through local, state, and national committees and speaking engagements with expertise in suicide, peer support, and recovery based work. 
13. Leads and facilitates the interdisciplinary team to review progress and discuss strategies for acute clientele. 

OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

1. Maintains acceptable overall attendance record, to include department staff meetings,  agency meetings, and trainings as required. Ensures appropriate notification to  supervisor for absences and ensures that work is covered. Flexible in work schedule  when needed.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Director is expected to have completed a Master’s degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, psychology, or professional counseling and have a license with the BSRB. Preferred areas include knowledge of community resources, experience working in the community with youth who have Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED), ability to write and communicate verbally in a clear and concise fashion; and the ability to develop and maintain rapport with consumers, constituents and staff. Supervisory experience preferred. Must maintain current licensure as required for position.  A valid Kansas driver’s license and access to personal vehicle required.
