About the role

Overview

We are currently looking for a Sales Representative- New Markets to develop, nurture and cultivate relationships with businesses and targeted industry entities. Work with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s) and specialty market manufacturers to grow the business for both Suburban Propane and the manufacturer. Learn the regulations in targeted industries and become the subject matter expert in these markets for Suburban Propane. Work with and train Suburban Propane regional teams to provide knowledge, expertise and sales training for regional teams, coordinate with regional GMs and CSC managers and technical personnel to ensure customer satisfaction. Negotiate and close new sales agreements with regional RSRs, CSC managers’ regional teams as well as national accounts to meet productivity and sales goals. Contribute to and implement Company, Regional, National Account and CSC marketing plans to continually increase customer base and gallon volumes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and leverage relationships with businesses and industry entities to cultivate new business prospects. Attend trade shows and other related events. Actively participate in industry organizations to continually build professional
  • Pursue new business in specialty markets and negotiate new sales agreements for regional and national accounts to increase customer base year over year. Follow up on sales leads. Call or visit potential customers, attend trade shows, connect with manufacturers and OEMs in targeted industries, initiate mailings, and engage in other related marketing activities. Negotiate and close sales contracts and service agreements. Improve close ratio year to year and meet required productivity/sales
  • Partner with the Regional VP/General Manager and National Accounts group to aggressively pursue Regional and National Accounts business
  • Champion a positive, professional image of Suburban Propane to create customer goodwill and foster referrals and repeat
  • Follow up with new accounts to ensure customer satisfaction and fulfillment of the
  • Maintain relationships with key accounts to ensure continual customer satisfaction. Implement existing sales and serve agreements consistent with company
  • Coordinate with Estimators and Technicians to effectively service customer accounts. Assist with customer issue resolution including credit and collections
  • Assist in the development, design, communication and implementation of the marketing plan for targeted industries and specialty markets.
  • May assist with RSR and CSC employee sales training related to specialty markets.

$84,260 - $105,325 annually (dependent on experience)

Extended and on-call hours required at times as business needs dictate, including some weekends and holidays. Travel as needed to attended trade shows, visit customers and prospects, manufacturers, work with and train regional teams, and any other growth opportunity.

Qualifications

  • Some college or equivalent combination of education and experience (Business-related Bachelor's Degree preferred).
  • Five or more years of sales and/or management experience, preferably in the fuel industry.
  • Familiarity with fuel industry concepts, trends, practices, and government regulations.
  • Thorough knowledge of sales and marketing techniques and best practices.
  • Basic understanding of oil and gas-fired appliances and related distribution systems (training provided).
