Maintenance Mechanic - Nuclear Fuel Services (BWXT) - Erwin, TN
Summary Description:
Must understand electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems in order to have the ability to trouble-shoot and repair sophisticated equipment.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform repair work as requested and approved by minor work order.
- Perform work on fissile uranium-bearing equipment in such a manner that nuclear safety is assured.
- Perform work on hazardous chemicals equipment in such a manner that employees and the environment are protected.
- Install or modify plant equipment as specified and approved by major work order. The following skills may be required: pipe fitting, plumbing, masonry work, carpentry, florring, ceiling work, electrical, welding, machinist.
- Understand and follow engineering drawings and circuit diagrams.
- Perform gas and electrical welding as required (excepts on pressure vessels).
- Perform preventative maintenance on plant equpiment.
- Perform welding, cutting, or spark-producing work in such a manner that fires are prevented.
- Shutdown, startup, or repair equipment as necessary to mitigate hazards or damage.
- Move containers and equipment.
- Prepare accurate and legible records associated with assigned job.
- Keep work area clean.
- Understand and follow standard operating procedures, letters of authorization, special instructions, radiation work permits, and welding permits.
- Have the ability to take and pass both a written and hands-on assessment covering specific skills required to be performed in maintenance such as welding, electrical, etc.
Educational Requirements:
Associate degree or certificate in a craft/technical field or certification from an approved 4-year apprenticeship program. Additional training or experience is required covering functions performed in the position such as welding, electrical work, HVAC systems, and chemical processing systems. These skills will be verified through a Skills Assessment.
Experience Requirements:
Five (5) years experience is required.
Pay: $32.32 - 37.86
The starting rate for this position in Tennessee (US-TN) is between $34.32 - $37.86 per hour. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, retirement and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment and are subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
