Team Overview and Job Responsibilities
This position reports to the Process Engineering Manager. The Process Engineer will coordinate all the process or project improvement initiatives in manufacturing. The engineer will investigate the causes of product failures and implement solutions. The engineer will maintain a Safety-First mindset in all activities. This position will require the individual accepted to become proficient in understanding the overall plant processes and data collection techniques for troubleshooting and process improvement initiatives. This position will not have supervisory responsibilities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Work with the plant staff to identify priority areas of process improvement throughout the manufacturing arena and select the most appropriate process improvement techniques.
- Work with plant staff to set up process improvement strategies such as team-based systems, process improvement techniques training, and supervisory/hourly associate training.
- Help raise the bar of manufacturing excellence by identifying other external sources or benchmarks and identify opportunities to implement the best in practice techniques in our organization.
- Assist as necessary to assure project completion and overall process improvement results.
- Achieve measurable productivity gains and KPI goals as identified by the Plant Manager and the Process Engineering Manager.
- Work with R&D materials engineering to run experimental compounding trials.
- Ability to research and identify new process improvement strategies for World Class Manufacturing.
- Develop training programs/procedures and implement new process improvement strategies.
- Develop and execute capital projects in time and on budget.
- Able to communicate with and motivate others.
- Comfortable managing multiple tasks simultaneously covering a wide range of various applications
- Able to implement a plan and develop necessary support at all levels of the organization
- Assist Quality team in identifying problems, root causes, and implementing solutions to process.
- Support EHS plant objectives as necessary.
Who are we looking for?
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent
- Experience with high-intensity mixing and extrusion technologies of rubber and/or plastics
- Familiarity with batch-mixing processes
- Experience with Wonderware-based applications and/or other recipe management/ plant automation software
- Experience with enterprise management systems such as SAP
- Experience with Continuous Improvement tools and methodologies
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years experience in a process or industrial engineering role
- Experience with Environmental and Quality management systems such as ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001
- 1 – 3 years of prior Banbury Mixer process experience
- BUSS Kneader experience
- LSS Greenbelt and/or Blackbelt
