That’s why our team is looking to add a Senior Manager in Design & Construction.

As Senior Manager, Design & Construction, you’ll be accountable for the oversight and delivery of corporate construction projects.  

The ideal candidate should:  

  • Demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills including storytelling and presenting across teams and levels

  • Understand and prioritize the customer experience and solve for customer needs appropriately 

  • Guide, motivate and inspire others to think differently and deliver results through fact-based recommendations and building consensus 

  • Quickly establish themselves as a subject matter expert and offer their skills to assist others

  • Incorporate prior experience, data, the expertise of others, requirements and good judgment when making decisions

  • Understand when to change processes in order to innovate and collaborate to ensure feasibility

  • Drive results by proactively making adjustments to overcome obstacles, holding others accountable, setting milestone and ensuring efforts are aligned to business priorities

  • Positively influence the department culture, customers, partners and team 

  • Have a passion for real estate and/or security and how it influences culture and the environment

Key Responsibilities: 

Project Planning & Strategy

  • Develop and execute project plans, timelines, and budgets for multiple construction and renovation projects including obtaining local government entitlements, permits, inspections etc. 

  • Align project goals with GWS strategy and design standards

  • Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to mitigate risks

Design Oversight and Management

  • Lead the design phase by collaborating with Architects, Engineers and other consultants, and procuring vendors on design and construction teams for both new projects and renovations

  • Ensure design consistency with Capital One branding and GWS workplace experience objectives

  • Review design documents for quality, functionality, and compliance with building codes and regulations

  • Integrate sustainable design and construction practices to help drive environmental goals, which includes exploring innovative technologies and materials to enhance efficiency, productivity and performance

  • Oversee ad-hoc projects such as video conferencing, signage replacement, major furniture reconfigurations and infrastructure repairs, landscaping, “green” projects, etc.

Construction Management / Budget & Cost Control

  • Oversee the construction phase, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and budget

  • Monitor construction progress and partner to resolve issues effectively 

  • Develop and manage project budgets with great discipline and accountability

  • Ensure compliance with Capital One procurement policies and financial controls

 Stakeholder Coordination & Project Closeout

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as GWS Amenities team, Transactions, Facilities Operations, Tech, Regional Portfolio, etc.
