Department Overview

Pacific Gas and Electric Company Safety and Infrastructure Protection (SIP) teams provide direct defense of utility infrastructure and conduct fire safety and prevention, mitigation, and maintenance activities on company properties or rights of way. In addition, SIP teams provide fire and safety standby services to PG&E employees performing routine work activities. SIP teams are staffed by PG&E employees and are represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).  A SIP team consists of a SIP Crew Lead and a SIP Technician who operate a PG&E vehicle that meets the minimum capabilities of a Type 6 wildland fire engine. There are teams located throughout our service territory in high fire-threat areas.

 

Position Summary

Partners with field leaders in all PG&E lines of business to develop and recommend a strategic direction for utility emergency preparedness, emergency response and public partnerships. Provides primary supervision to SIPT field personnel during routine work and emergency response.  Oversees staff involved in implementation of emergency plans & processes, training, emergency exercises/drills, communication and actual incident management. Responsible for team execution of work plans, safety goals and program objectives.  Serves as a liaison with public safety agencies during emergencies. Ensures compliance with all company and regulatory safety policies and practices.

  • This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory, North Valley Region.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

 

CA Minimum: $120,000
CA Maximum: $190,000

Bay Minimum: $126,000
Bay Maximum: $200,000

 

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 
 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Develops and documents emergency preparedness plans, processes, procedures, and roles. Presents recommendations for procedures and processes to Manager, Senior Manager, and/or Director. Ensures staff maintain and update processes and procedures as business needs change. Directs team in identifying and exploring continuous process improvement.
  • Identifies and supports SIPT daily work projects
  • Implements policies, procedures and systems required for maintaining and enhancing the overall emergency management to include preparation, prevention, response, and recovery.
  • May coordinate with federal, state and local emergency management authorities during emergency and non-emergency events.
  • Partners and coordinates emergency preparedness planning and training with all lines of business.
  • Partners with Manager on needs assessment, training planning determination of most effective training methods and tools. Collaborates with PG&E Academy on training content development to streamline and improve PG&E’s ability to respond to emergencies.
  • Plans, facilitates, and schedules regular emergency training exercises. Determines the target audience, oversees training scheduling and communication. Monitors training attendance. Conduct de-brief sessions after each exercise to assess effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provides day to day direction to staff involved in planning and implementing emergency preparedness training and providing ongoing support and consultation to all lines of business.
  • Supervises multiple SIPT Lead and Technicians across a broad geographic area.
  • Supervises staff to accomplish results through effective recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, and rewards and recognition.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • High School or GED Diploma
  • 5 years total related work experience 
  • 3 years of experience in emergency management or related f
