Engineering Manager - Business Account

As the first Engineering Manager in our San Francisco Office, you will be responsible for the delivery and quality of the feature team you are leading. While you are a technically strong engineer, realistically only 20-30% of your time will be hands on the tools writing code and delivering features as majority of your time will be aligning with commercial leaders and Product/Design/Strategy teams and ensuring the quality of the teams output is at the right level and that the team is working effectively to meet its objectives.With a globally distributed cloud architecture, powered by a stack of cutting-edge technologies, we're able to deliver a high-quality service to our customers worldwide. Our technology stack includes GCP and K8s for cloud infrastructure and microservices orchestration, Kotlin for microservices, Postgres for data storage, Kafka for real-time data streaming and Temporal driving workflows and sagas. On the frontend we use React and Typescript and GraphQL for flexible API querying.
Working in the Spend Management domain, you will be responsible for leading a team of skilled engineers in building and maintaining exciting new financial control products that empower our users' finance teams. Our current Spend Management product is an expense management solution integrated with our cards offering that is designed to simplify expense reporting and streamline approvals. In addition to our current product, we are actively developing new Spend Management solutions that will help our clients manage their financial operations more efficiently and effectively.

What You’ll Bring:5+ years working in modern engineering practices focused on continuous integration and quality engineeringStrong computer science fundamentals. While we do not mind what language you have most recently been using we are using Java or Kotlin, Spring / Spring BootExposure working on distributed systemsHands on experience with event driven architecturesGCP experience preferred, but AWS (EC2, RDS, ELB, CloudFront etc) with docker and Kubernetes is great tooExperience with modern test practices and tooling such as Cypress, Cucumber, PactBachelors in CS or equivalent At Airwallex you’ll have the ability to make an impact in a rapidly growing, global fintech.
