The Facilities Custodial Assistant is responsible for performing a variety of routine semi-skilled and skilled work related to building & grounds maintenance and equipment operation. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Job Description

Warehouse duties - 20%

• Pull supplies from shelves and prepare them for delivery to Weld County facilities.
• Load delivery trucks for disbursement of goods.

Custodial Duties - 15%

• Occasionally, perform custodial tasks including but not limited to the following: dust horizontal surfaces; trash removal – inside and outside of buildings; clean and sanitize restrooms and eating areas; fill dispensers; dry and wet mop hard surface floors; sweep and vacuum; VCT floor maintenance; carpet cleaning, window cleaning, upholstery and cubicle divider cleaning.
• Maintain and repair various custodial equipment; repair and replace broken dispensers.
• Clean, organize and maintain mop heads, cleaning towels and custodial equipment for Buildings and Grounds use.
• Operate machinery and tools to include; forklift, low-speed scrubber, high-speed burnisher, shower machine, carpet extractor, vacuum, various carpet scrubbers such as the Whittaker and iCapsol, various tools used in repairing equipment.
• Clean, organize and maintain mop heads, cleaning towels and custodial equipment for Buildings and Grounds use.

Inspection and escort duties - 50%

• Perform escort duties for custodial contractors needing access to restricted areas.
• Perform quality inspections of custodial contractor to ensure compliance with contract specifications.

Other duties and responsibilities - 15%

• Input work orders, timesheets, and periodic maintenance items into appropriate databases
• May be required to be on-call status during hours other than normal shift hours and perform related work as required.
• May be required to fill-in for Security personnel on leave, vacation, and sick.
• Ability to safely operate a vehicle in routine conditions.
• Assist with maintaining Safety Data Sheet (SDS) program for department

Required Qualifications

Required Education

• High School Diploma/GED

Experience Qualifications

• 1 year Diversified experience as a custodian.
• 1 year Supervisory experience.

Preferred Experience

• 1 year VCT and other hard surface floor maintenance and commercial carpet experience.

Skills and Abilities

• Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License and have a good driving record.
• Must pass, and maintain the ability to pass, a thorough background check at any time during employment with Weld County.
• It is required to maintain Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) certification.
• Work in Secure and Non-secure Detention Facilities.

This position is non-exempt from the minimum wage and overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is therefore eligible for overtime pay.
