Qualification Requirements
This position requires a veterinary technician degree (Associate or Bachelor), a New York State Veterinary Technician license (or eligibility to obtain licensure within 6 months of hire), and a driver’s license valid within NY. The Veterinary Technician must also understand and be able to comply with DEA regulations pertaining to controlled substances in veterinary practice. A minimum of 3 years of experience working full-time as a veterinary technician is preferred, preferably in a zoo or aquarium. Additional skills include the ability to work in a complex healthcare environment with diverse taxa and multiple veterinary staff, the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team that interacts closely with other departments, including Animal, Life-Support, and Facilities teams, and the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
