Compensation for under 5 credits is $1,650 per semester credit. Those teaching more than five credits are temporary part-time employees and can move to the faculty salary schedule.

This adjunct position will remain open for 1 year to allow departments’ access to candidate pools when there is a need to hire an adjunct to teach a course(s) during defined academic semester(s).

ABOUT THE POSITIONS AND THE BSAM PROGRAM AT NORMANDALE

Normandale Community College is seeking part-time faculty members to join the Business Department to teach in the area of business software.  Faculty teaching in the Business Software and Administrative Management program affiliate with the Business Department, which is committed to providing a core foundation of business principles to students of all backgrounds. The BSAM curriculum supports the Business Software and Administrative Management Associate of Applied Science degree and certificate, as well as other Business degrees and certificates.  Valuing a diversity of approaches and backgrounds in its faculty members, the Business Department encourages a participatory culture that affirms the engaged role faculty play in service to the college.

Minimum Qualifications (all three requirements must be met)

Education Requirement

  • Bachelor's degree in business, management, business education or marketing.

Occupational Experience Requirement

  • Two full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in business office applications and operations.

Recency Requirement

  • One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in business administration or business management; or

  • Coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree

  • Post-secondary teaching experience

  • Microsoft Office Specialist Certification or five years’ experience using the full suite of Microsoft Office applications

  • Instructional or work experience in one or more of the following areas: project management, business analytics, business applications of artificial intelligence, or workforce development

  • Experience serving diverse and underserved populations

  • Verifiable paid work experience in the field of business

  • An understanding of the community college mission and its unique student population

  • Experience in online learning and/or course delivery using web-based course management systems such as D2L

  • Commitment to applied and experiential learning in and outside of the classroom.

  • Experience teaching courses with innovative teaching practices to support the success and retention of underrepresented students, including students of color, first-generation students, and Pell eligible students

  • Evidence of continuous professional development related to diversity, equity, and inclusion

  • Demonstrated commitment to collegial activities - service on committees, developing assessment, and
