Position Summary
J. J. Keller is seeking a Business Analyst with a finance or accounting background who is passionate about process improvement and enjoys working at the intersection of business and technology. This role is highly focused on SAP testing for bug fixes and system enhancements.
The Business Analyst will partner closely with Finance, Accounting, and Technology teams to analyze current processes, identify inefficiencies, and help design, test, and implement improved solutions. The ideal candidate enjoys working with financial data, understands how transactions flow through SAP and into financial statements, and brings a continuous improvement mindset focused on driving operational excellence.
Job Responsibilities
- Identifies, analyzes, and facilitates the implementation of new and enhanced technology to support the Accounting business unit.
- Work to define business needs, project requirements, system specifications, and deliverables.
- Coordinates activities and maintains ongoing communication with management, technology team, end users, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinates decisions based on business requirements, system functionality, and best business practices.
- Participates in system configuration, data conversion, and testing processes.
- Troubleshoots system errors and performance problems so that business needs are met on a timely basis. Provides 2nd level support for help desk calls. Analyzes trends and develops recommendations to resolve recurring issues.
- Prepares and updates documentation to include functional specifications, testing procedures, end user documentation, technical standard operating procedures (SOP), etc.
- May create and maintain reports and analytics to support the business unit.
- May prepare and conduct end-user training.
- Facilitates timely and thorough system testing for new system implementations and system updates/upgrades.
- Determines appropriate system security profiles in accordance with data security policies and practices. Audits security access on a regular basis and resolves issues.
- Actively participates in business process improvement activities to include leading and participating in process improvement events (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.).
Qualifications
Experience
- 2+ years of experience working with Accounting or Finance systems.
- Hands-on experience with SAP strongly preferred, particularly within:
- Billing
- Accounts Receivable
- Accounts Payable
- General Ledger
- Fixed Assets
- Experience with system testing, bug fixes, or enhancements.
- Process or systems analysis experience required.
- Project leadership experience a plus.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field strongly preferred.
- In lieu of the bachelor's degree, will consider an additional 4 years of directly related experience.
- Lean, CBAP or PMP certifications are a plus.
Computer Skills
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- System implementation and configuration experience a plus.
- Experience with report writing/query tools such as SQL, Crystal, Business Objects, etc.

- Strong technical aptitude with a desire to understand system functionality end to end.
Physical Requirements
Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for extended periods of time. Occasional travel to customer sites and/or industry and training events may also be required, depending on assignment.
