Personal Supports - Sat & Sun (11am - 6:30pm)

Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Support Worker to assist an individual in developing their independent living skills and ensuring their safety and well-being.

Location: Germantown, MD

Key Responsibilities:

Personal Care Assistance: 

• Support with personal hygiene tasks, including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
• Assist with daily living activities, ensuring a focus on promoting independence.

Mobility Support:

• Aid with mobility, particularly on stairs and uneven surfaces, ensuring the individual’s safety.
• Encourage safe practices while navigating the community.

Skill Development: 

• Work with individual to develop their laundry skills, including sorting, washing, drying, and folding clothes.
• Assist in cooking simple meals, focusing on safe food preparation practices and accommodating dietary restrictions (dairy and shellfish allergies).
• Support individuals in practicing hygiene routines with minimal assistance.

Medication Management: 

• Help individual manage and take their medication, particularly during times of anxiety.
• Monitor and report any changes in emotional or physical well-being.

Community Engagement:

• Accompany on community outings for shopping, activities, and dining, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience.
• Encourage social interactions and participation in community events.

Communication: 

• Communicate effectively using verbal communication and assistive technology to understand the individual’s needs and preferences.
• Maintain open communication with family members regarding the individual’s progress and any concerns.

Candidate Qualities:

• Previous experience as a personal support worker or in a similar role is preferred.
• Knowledge of mobility assistance techniques and safety protocols.
• Understanding dietary restrictions and food safety practices.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals experiencing anxiety and other emotional challenges.
• Strong communication skills and patience in working with individuals with diverse needs.
• Certification in first aid and CPR is a plus.
• Ability to motivate and encourage independence.

Required Qualifications:

• Fully Vaccinated against COVID-19
• High School Diploma
• Valid Driver’s License
• Possess a strong service orientation, including active listening, critical thinking skills, and close monitoring of individuals supported.
• Comfortable in an environment where individuals supported may not be able to perform essential life duties.
• Ability to work professionally and discretely with confidential information.
• High level of personal and professional integrity.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in a verbal and written man
