Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA)-Adjunct Faculty-Physical Dysfunction

Stanbridge University is seeking dynamic and knowledgeable instructors to teach in the Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) Program. The ideal candidate will be a licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR) with experience in physical dysfunction settings and the ability to bring real-world clinical insight into the classroom and lab. Experienced Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) with advanced practice credentials and strong teaching ability are also encouraged to apply.

This position plays a key role in preparing future OTAs for excellence in patient care through interactive, evidence-based learning experiences.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging classroom and/or lab instruction aligned with course learning outcomes and accreditation standards.
• Provide hands-on demonstrations and supervision during lab sessions focused on therapeutic techniques, particularly in physical dysfunction contexts.
• Assess student performance through observation, assignments, and practical evaluations; provide constructive and timely feedback.
• Collaborate with faculty to ensure consistency in course delivery and integration across the OTA curriculum.
• Maintain professional currency through continuing education, licensure, and participation in relevant professional associations.
• Model ethical, evidence-based practice and uphold the mission and values of Stanbridge University.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Licensed and credentialed Occupational Therapist (OT) or advanced-level Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA).
• Minimum of three (3) years of clinical practice experience.
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Demonstrated professional experience in physical dysfunction or rehabilitation settings.
• Energetic, engaging teaching style appropriate for 4–8 hours of classroom or lab instruction per day.
• Member of professional organizations such as AOTA and/or OTAC.
• Proficient in computer literacy and instructional technology.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree or higher in Occupational Therapy or related discipline.
• One year of full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities.
• Experience in psychosocial OT, specialty certifications, or advanced practice credentials.

Work Environment:

• Standard classroom/lab/clinical setting.
• Duties are typically performed while standing, instructing, and assisting students in lab activities.
• May include lifting or moving instructional materials and equipment.
• Subject to frequent interruptions, noise from student activities, and demanding timelines.

Physical Demands:

• Regularly stands and moves around during lab sessions.
• Physical ability to demonstrate occupational therapy techniques and support student practice.
• Effective verbal communication in classroom and lab environments.
• Ability to read instructional materials and operate computers and AV equipment.
• Able to lift, carry, and/or move objects weighing 10–25 pounds as needed.
