Summary:
To oversee all aspects of the day-to-day operations of a niche & luxurious retail establishment including but not limited to employee development, processes and procedures of a cigar retail store and full-service bar. Responsible for ensuring that store functions are completed including, budgeting, forecasting, store events, ordering, receiving, stocking, merchandise, staffing, training, cash handling, shrink control, and enhancing customer experience. The General Manager will also have Supervisor duties.

• Establish organizational goals, performance objectives, guidelines, and best practices
• Oversee all store operations based on the organization's goals, objectives, and standards
• Assist and supervise all department supervisors and managers in planning and performance
• Provide supportive and participatory leadership, promoting team building and empowerment
• Maintain and exceed set guidelines for customer experience
• Delegate responsibilities to the best-qualified employees and enforce all policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines, training programs, and cultural values
• Efficiently resolve internal staff conflicts to the mutual benefit of all involved
Also, as our Retail General Manager, you will:
Financial Accountability:
• Participate in and oversee the preparation of annual budgets
• Monitor and manage all labor and controllable expenditures within budget
• Utilize financial tools and reports to support operations
• Direct and maintain inventory, product mix, and merchandising standards
• Review alcohol and food ordering and pricing processes to maximize sales
• Determine marketing strategy changes based on operating and financial statements and departmental sales records
• Maintain strict cashier accountability, key control, scanning accuracy, and adherence to company security practices and cash control procedures
• Collaborate with the accounting department to evaluate retail store objectives, payroll trends, and inventory variances
Operational Responsibilities:
• Monitor overall store conditions to meet customer service objectives and budgetary goals
• Proficiently manage the bar, service levels, and trends
• Collaborate with the merchandising department on executing store design and merchandising plans
• Study advertising, sales promotion, and display plans; analyze operating and financial statements for profitability ratios
• Oversee all mechanical, cleaning, supplies, food and beverage contracts, and supplier relationships
• Direct and maintain inventory, product mix, and merchandising standards
• Work with the events team to plan and execute retail and bar events
Customer Service Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and maintain a well-merchandised and customer-friendly store
• Evaluate and identify customer service needs and provide necessary training to ensure outstanding customer experience for retail and bar associates
Safety Responsibilities:
• Implement required programs, manage, and monitor compliance with applicable federal and state health and safety laws
• Ensure a safe work environment for all staff and customers
Store Promotion Responsibilities:
• Coordinate store information with design for the website
• Plan and manage store promotions
• Design and maintain a marketing campaign within budget to maximize local involvement and increase sales
Physical Job Requirements:
• Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving items
• Ability to move around the store and maneuver merchandise when necessary
• Walking and standing
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
• Requires moving around the store to assist customers
• Identifying and reading reports
• Requires recognizing, identifying, and using products
Your areas of knowledge and expertise (that matter the most for this role):
• Bachelor’s degree in business, Hospitality Services, or equivalent (work experience will be considered in lieu of degree)
• Five or more years of retail, hospitality, and management experience, including operating, capital, and cash budgeting
• Preferred, but not required: Previous retail experience in a specialized boutique or niche
• Leadership experience with hiring, training, evaluating, compensating, and implementing corrective action
