Reporting to the Process Technology Manager, this position will support the day-to-day operation of the Oxo 2EH unit for the Pasadena, TX site. You will exercise strong leadership in safe plant operation and adherence to BASF Process Safety rules and policies. In this role, you will lead and facilitate complex improvement projects to successfully achieve real-world improvements. This is an opportunity for you to demonstrate your excellent communication and problem-solving skills as the role influences and interacts with a broad range of personnel groups including operators, global technology, regional project organizations, and business leadership.

 

As a Sr Operations Engineer, you create chemistry by…

 

• Providing technical support and troubleshooting expertise to the Daily Operational Team along with Root Cause Failure Analysis efforts for production, EHS, and Quality incidents.
• Providing guidance and input to the achievement and developing plant goals, objectives, and operational budgets.
• Developing and leading the commissioning and start-up of capital projects, also developing, and driving Continuous Process Safety and/or Environmental Improvements.
• Improving effectiveness of the production technology, also supporting the alarm management, and troubleshooting for DCS/SIS systems, including recommending control and interlock strategy development/implementation.
• Acting as Manufacturing Representative of Capital Projects providing process and design input through project scope, justification, timing, design, and construction for capital projects.
• Coordinating, completing, and documenting PSSR, MOC reviews, and revalidating in collaboration with global technology and global safety groups to meet process safety and environmental requirements.
• Responding to any after hour events that impacts EH&S or Production.
• Providing operations support for site turnarounds, including decommissioning, vessel inspections, recommissioning, and startup support.

 

If you...

 

• Have a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering.
• Have at least 4 years of Operations Engineering experience including prior turnaround experience is required.
• Have strong troubleshooting skills, familiarity with chemical processing equipment, strong interpersonal skills, and effective communication skills.
• Have prior experience in process hazard analysis, management of change, root cause analysis, and incident investigations is required.
