Position Summary:

The FAU Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine seeks a highly skilled and motivated Senior Associate Dean for Research to join our dynamic team, playing a pivotal role in advancing research initiatives and promoting a culture of innovation and excellence within the institution. This position is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the research portfolio, fostering collaboration among researchers, securing research funding, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The incumbent will lead efforts to elevate the Schmidt College of Medicine's reputation as a hub of cutting-edge research, contributing to the institution's mission to provide outstanding healthcare, education, and community engagement.

The Senior Associate Dean for Research - Associate/Full Professor will have the following specific responsibilities:

Research Strategy and Leadership:

• Develop and implement a strategic vision for research within the community-based academic medical center.
• Collaborate with other senior leaders to align research goals with the institution's mission and strategic priorities.
• Foster a culture of research excellence, ethics, and integrity throughout the institution.

Research Portfolio Management:

• Oversee and coordinate all research activities, including basic science, clinical research, and translational research.
• Manage research budgets, allocate resources effectively, and optimize research infrastructure and support services.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of research programs, making data-driven decisions to improve performance.

Research Funding and Grants:

• Identify and pursue research funding opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and industry partners.
• Assist faculty and researchers in preparing competitive grant applications and securing research funding.
• Diversify and expand the institution's research funding sources.

Collaboration and Partnerships:

• Promote interdisciplinary and cross-institutional collaborations among faculty, researchers, and external partners.
• Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with other academic institutions, healthcare organizations, and industry stakeholders.
• Facilitate knowledge exchange and research synergies within and beyond the institution.

Research Compliance and Ethics:

• Ensure adherence to ethical research practices and regulatory compliance, including IRB and IACUC approvals.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to maintain research integrity and data security.

Research Communication and Advocacy:

• Represent the institution at national and international research forums and conferences.
• Promote the dissemination of research findings through publications, presentations, and public engagement.
• Advocate for research priorities at the local, state, and federal levels.

Faculty and Staff Development:

• Recruit, mentor, and retain talented researchers and research support staff.
• Provide professional development opportunities for faculty and research teams.
• Foster a collaborative research environment.

Collaboration and Interdisciplinary Coordination:

• Collaborate with program directors, department chairs, and hospital leadership to ensure coordination and integration of educational activities, resources, and servi
