General Supervisor-CLIA (per diem)

Description

Quris is seeking a per diem General Supervisor - High Complexity Clinical Testing to be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of high complexity testing within the clinical laboratory. The laboratory is running tests using a flow cytometer. This position ensures compliance with regulatory standards including CLIA, CAP, and Massachusetts state regulations. The General Supervisor may provide guidance, training, and supervision to testing personnel and assist in maintaining quality assurance programs in the future. 

Location: South End, Boston, Massachusetts

Job Type: Per Diem, 1-2 days a month

Responsibilities:

• Act as operating personnel during the initial phases of the laboratory operations
• Perform and supervise daily laboratory activities and personnel performing high complexity testing.
• Ensure accuracy and timeliness of laboratory test results.
• Review and approve quality control data, taking corrective action when necessary.
• Monitor compliance with established standard operating procedures, quality assurance measures, and regulatory requirements.
• Assist in training and competency assessment of laboratory personnel.
• Maintain laboratory documentation, including records of quality control, proficiency testing, personnel competency, and corrective actions.
• Participate actively in inspections by CLIA, CAP, and Massachusetts state regulatory agencies.
• Recommend and implement improvements in laboratory processes, procedures, and equipment.
• Communicate effectively with Laboratory Director and Technical Supervisor regarding laboratory performance, staffing needs, and operational issues.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, biological sciences, or related field.
• At least three (3) years of experience performing high complexity laboratory testing, including at least one (1) year in a supervisory role in a CLIA-certified laboratory.
• Experience with flow cytometry.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to supervise and motivate laboratory staff effectively.
• Comprehensive knowledge of high complexity laboratory testing, quality assurance programs, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Certification by a nationally recognized credentialing agency (e.g., ASCP) is preferred.

Regulatory Requirements (CLIA/Massachusetts):

• Must meet CLIA qualifications as defined in 42 CFR §493.1461 for a General Supervisor in a high complexity testing laboratory.
• Massachusetts-specific requirement: Minimum of three years' laboratory experience in high complexity testing, including supervisory responsibilities.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

• Ability to safely manage biological specimens and potentially hazardous chemicals.
• Frequently required to stand, sit, handle laboratory equipment, and perform precise manual tasks.
• Adherence to laboratory safety guidelines and proper use of PPE at all times.
