Job Description
The Battery Supply Chain and Manufacturing Lead will own IESA's engagement with member companies and government stakeholders on battery supply chain and manufacturing issues. The role combines industry-facing relationship management, policy representation, and content/knowledge development, while working closely with the Policy, Recycling, Green Hydrogen, and CES Consulting teams. The individual will manage one analyst and is expected to build IESA's credibility as the go-to voice on battery manufacturing and supply chain matters, both with members and with government.
Member & Government Engagement
- Lead discussions with member companies on issues within the battery supply chain and manufacturing subject area.
- Lead and represent IESA in ministerial meetings, presenting and articulating IESA's point of view.
- Connect with Leadership Circle / Platinum members at least once a month through physical meetings.
Content, Advocacy & Knowledge Development
- Prepare notes on key issues and recommendations and share them with members.
- Conduct working group meetings on a monthly basis and work on improving their impact and engagement quality.
- Author 5 leadership articles per year on battery supply chain and manufacturing themes.
- Conduct at least 1 physical roundtable with the subject group each year.
Membership Growth & Retention
- Generate new member leads and drive them to closure in coordination with the membership team.
- Support member retention efforts within the subject area, with a target retention rate of 85%.
Reporting & Cross-Team Support
- Prepare and submit a monthly report covering developments and activities in the subject area.
- Support the policy team in preparation of their monthly report.
- Work with the Consulting team and support them in reviewing annual reports.
Events
- Actively support the events team in IESA's flagship events.
- Take the lead on Manufacturing Day at IESW and IBMSCS.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field; a Master's degree or MBA is an advantage.
- 5–10 years of experience in battery manufacturing, supply chain, energy storage, or a closely related industrial sector
- Prior experience engaging with government/ministerial stakeholders or working within an industry body/association is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing member or client relationships, including at senior/leadership levels.
- Experience managing or mentoring a direct report is an advantage.
Key Skills
- Strong subject-matter grounding in battery supply chain and manufacturing, with the ability to speak credibly to both members and government.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, comfortable engaging with senior industry leaders and government officials.
- Strong written communication skills for notes, reports, and leadership articles.
