Duties

  • Plan, direct, or coordinate activities of an organization to ensure compliance with ethical or regulatory standards, and oversee and lead stage gate portfolio governance committees and analyses to draw insights that address R&D senior management business questions, inform pipeline portfolio planning, and support R&D strategic decision making.
  • Drive crisp, high-quality decision making within the governance model by ensuring decision makers are provided with rigorous, fact based quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Effectively communicate governance committee and portfolio decisions to leaders across the organization.
  • Lead governance forums empowered to enable key R&D portfolio decisions.
  • Lead forums in-line with charters and committee conduct guidelines and principles.
  • Support the identification and implementation of continuous improvement efforts to help mature the current governance model and forums.
  • Interface with project leaders and teams to guide and navigate on program progression through the governance model and processes.
  • Provide governance committee process oversight to ensure process effectiveness through ownership of reports and metrics tracking, enforcement of AARs, maintenance of process and template documentation, and championing of continuous improvement.
  • Drive governance committee forum documentation and dissemination to stakeholders.
  • Ensure analytics have been captured in the appropriate systems.
  • Ensure communication on trade-offs and prioritization decisions across the portfolio is timely, effective, and delivered to all appropriate stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the processes and consolidation of reporting to support the R&D Portfolio Goals metrics (annual and multi-year) for inclusion in the Corporate Scorecard.
  • Establish processes to efficiently store and maintain governance program and portfolio decisions and alongside key portfolio metrics.
  • Telecommuting permitted up to 100%.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in pharmaceutical sciences, life sciences, healthcare-related discipline, or related field, and 6 years of progressive experience in the job offered or a R&D Governance-related occupation in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, or clinical experience.

 

Position also requires demonstrable experience with each of the following:

  • Proven ability to work and interact confidently with senior members of the organization and appropriately challenge their assumptions.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote and motivate stakeholders to adopt a data-driven culture of decision-making.
  • Creating materials and communication for senior and executive leadership, and effectively communicating the information orally and in writing to facilitate decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to frame issues, problem solve both creatively and analytically, and manage projects.
  • Knowledge of biotechnology or pharmaceutical R&D process and practices, decision-making frameworks, and program and study team structure.
  • Cross-functional facilitation leading and managing teams across multiple geographies, organizational functions, and levels, and influencing without authority across functions and at all levels of a matrixed organization.
  • Leading continuous improvement and process improvement initiatives.
  • Hands on experience with change management concepts and strategies including communication, culture change, and training.
