In this role, your objective is to coordinate and integrate different departments to ensure that the aircraft or components are on schedule, risks are mitigated promptly, and the aircraft/components meet quality and safety expectations. The goal is to accomplish the production process in the smoothest, most judicious, and most economical way.

As a Production Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Assessing the risk induced by new tasks or reworks on the aircraft/components’ progress and defining action plans to negate those risks. Proposing risk reduction plans for future improvement.
  • Coordinating and managing daily technical action plans and following up with the assembly team managers concerning the assignment of tasks, operations, and discrepancies to be performed on the aircraft/components according to the schedule and expected quality level.
  • Conducting daily monitoring of critical issues and making improvements when needed (including but not limited to shortages, technical events, and scheduling actions necessary to keep the line moving).
  • Reporting to the assembly team Manager about critical issues with input regarding recommendations and actions to resolve them.
  • Coordinating with other departments as required ensuring materials, parts, documentation, engineering data, and other items are delivered to the aircraft or shop on time.
  • Ability to conduct root cause analysis and define a corrective action plan to improve the process or product regarding cost, schedule, quality, etc.
  • Managing aircraft/components transfers, projects, and new processes under the supervision of the Business Unit management.
  • Utilizing support teams to maintain the aircraft/components production process and to improve the schedule.
  • May be selected as the assembly team’s subject matter expert (SME) for special projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation Engineering, Business, or a related field. Completed, relevant education from an accredited college or university may be substituted with years of relevant work experience. 1 year of education = 2 years of experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience in aircraft completions, maintenance, and/or components manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and challenges related to the management of the production process.
  • Ability to research, analyze, and recommend efficient production processes through production engineering concepts regarding work-study, ergonomics, operation research, root cause analysis, manufacturing management, materials management, production planning, etc.
  • Ability to read, understand, and communicate (both verbally and in writing) technical information contained in aircraft maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings.
