Responsibilities:

  • Serve as engineering group manager providing guidance and leadership to the Computer Aided Engineering team.

  • Manage team budgets, resources and adherence to project timing.

  • Work cross-functionally with other groups to support business needs.

  • Lead virtual analysis activities across engineering disciplines. 

  • Lead the computer aided engineering team with direct ownership of the analysis engineering process development, tools, and methods.

  • Develop and maintain internal system and subsystem analysis toolbox, including battery system analysis method definition, critical analysis guidelines, and analysis standards.

  • Monitor and enforce compliance with analysis standards through active participation in team meetings, design reviews, and workshops. 

  • Maintain a good technical understanding of relevant standards, regulations, and industry norms.

  • Support virtual root cause analysis and warranty investigations as needed using analysis methods and standards.

  • Perform detailed assessments, simulations, and other calculations as required to understand/derive product characteristics as well as feeding input into critical design decisions.

  • Provide technical expertise and advanced product diagnostics support to the FBPS service team for customers with the intention of maximizing product up time.

  • Provide guidance for the technical publications team; establish and maintain all aspects of customer-focused product integration documentation.

Qualifications:

  • M.S. in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related field is preferred (B.S. acceptable with equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 3 years as an engineering manager or technical engineering leader.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the analysis, development, design, and release of electrical and mechanical components or systems.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in battery system thermal runaway modeling.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electric vehicle programs and battery design and/or integration.
  • Working knowledge of battery safety, battery thermal runaway propagation, and battery thermal runaway propagation test methods.
  • Understanding of battery thermal runaway standards including UNECER100.3 and GB38031.
  • Experience leading projects through the initial analysis portion of the product development cycle.
  • Working knowledge of ISO, SAE, USABC and design & testing procedures for batteries.
  • Knowledge of lithium-ion battery chemistries, preferred.
  • Experience with Requirements Management tools such as Polarion, preferred.
  • Working knowledge / practical experience using scrum or agile techniques, preferred.
