JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform Experiments and Record Data

    Perform laboratory‑based basic science and translational research experiments following established research protocols and standard operating procedures. Demonstrate a strong understanding of the scientific principles underlying assigned research projects and apply those principles to troubleshoot, refine, and adapt experimental procedures as needed. Independently design and execute daily laboratory experiments in coordination with faculty investigators and senior laboratory personnel. Maintain accurate, detailed, and compliant records of all laboratory activities, experiments, and results. Collect, manage, analyze, and interpret experimental and clinical research data, including statistical and graphical analysis. Contribute data and written material for reports, abstracts, manuscripts, and presentations. Orally present research findings during laboratory meetings and collaborative research forums.

    Translational, Preclinical, and Clinical Research Support

    Support preclinical translational studies involving small and large animal models, including providing surgical and perioperative assistance in accordance with approved IACUC protocols. Assist with clinical research activities aligned with active clinical trials and retrospective analyses, including chart review, database management, and coordination of study‑related activities. Prepare, maintain, and support regulatory documentation for IRB and IACUC submissions, amendments, and continuing reviews to ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements. Collaborate across basic science, translational, and clinical teams to ensure continuity and integrity of research workflows.

    Research and Improve Current Methods

    Utilize internal and external resources to evaluate, reproduce, and improve existing laboratory and research techniques. Introduce innovative methodologies or modify established techniques to enhance research quality, efficiency, and reproducibility. Actively evaluate emerging technologies and approaches relevant to basic, translational, and clinical research initiatives.

    Serve as a Resource and Mentor

    Demonstrate advanced competence in specialized laboratory techniques, research methodologies, and regulatory processes. Serve as a subject‑matter resource within the laboratory and department. Assist in training postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, undergraduate trainees, and junior research staff in laboratory techniques, equipment use, and research best practices. Provide guidance to undergraduate trainees in simple, well‑established procedures. Effectively communicate with team members and contribute to professional growth through knowledge sharing and collaboration. Stay current with changes in relevant systems, regulations, and research practices.

    Laboratory and Research Administration

    Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to laboratory equipment, assays, and experimental results. Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and quality checks to ensure protocol accuracy and data integrity. Maintain laboratory inventory, supplies, and equipment. Maintain cell cultures and operate standard laboratory instrumentation. Assist with daily laboratory operations including organization, cleanliness, and supply management. Conduct assigned safety monitoring activities, including biosafety and other regulatory compliance checks, as required.

    Customer Service and Collaboration

    Build and maintain strong working relationships with investigators, collaborators, clinical partners, and other key stakeholders. Respond promptly and effectively to research and operational requests. Identify stakeholder needs and expectations and work collaboratively to meet research objectives. Communicate relevant information clearly and professionally to internal and external partners to support successful research outcomes.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required for RAII:

    ·High school diploma or equivalent AND 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline OR

    Preferred:

    ·Bachelor's degree in a related field
