Manager, Controls Engineering

Job Description

 

 

Responsible for all engineering activity for the Controls Engineering Department in meeting customer requirements, project schedules, and achieving both project and departmental budgets. Train and assist all engineering personnel in the use of company standardized tools and methods. Set an example of company culture with integrity and professional competence. Adhere to all established procedures as defined by ATS Quality Procedures, Process Flows, Work Instructions, Safety Procedures, and the Employee Handbook.

 

 

 

Responsibilities

 

 

• Manage all activity in the department ensuring the correct procedures and methods are in place and being followed for successful operations.
• Review labor estimates from Controls Project Engineers and submit final labor estimates to Sales and Applications proposals.
• Assign Controls Project Engineers and Controls Engineers to new projects.
• Participate in the planning phase of new projects in coordination with other Operations disciplines as needed.
• Review weekly updates to engineering tracking tasklists ensuring that processes and procedures are being followed.
• Maintain and track manpower needs in the department.
• Store and follow up on internal change order requests for scope change.
• Document and conduct annual performance reviews of all direct-report personnel in the department.
• Participate in department continuous improvement.

 

 

Education

 

 

 

A BS degree specializing in technology, engineering or equivalent

 

 

 

Experience

 

 

 

Minimum of 3 years of controls programming experience is preferred but not necessary. Minimum of 3 years of management of engineering teams with emphasis on driving teams to meeting schedule and budget is preferred. Must be task-driven, detail-oriented individual, with the ability to work additional hours as needed. Critical thinking skills are a must. Must have ability to work with and communicate effectively at all levels within the company and with senior client officials.
