Job Duties
Western State Hospital is seeking a full time Security Officer IV - Security Supervisor who will maintain adequate coverage in order for the Public Safety Department to fulfill its mission statement at Western State Hospital (WSH) and at the Commonwealth Center for Children and Adolescents (CCCA). This position will be responsible for performance management, which includes; ensuring expectations are clear, well communicated, and relate to the goals and objectives of the department or unit; staff receive frequent, constructive feedback, including interim evaluations as appropriate; the requirements of the performance planning and evaluation system are met and evaluations are completed by established deadlines with proper documentation; and performance issues are addressed and documented as they occur.
The Security Supervisor will also respond and assist unit staff with patients as requested at both WSH and the CCCA; respond to the scene of any fire, disaster, duress alarm, or any other such emergency and assist as needed; transport combative, dangerous, public safety patients to / from other state facilities, court hearings, and appointments; locate and return UA patients; patrol hospital property, monitor parking, traffic, and conduct vehicle accident investigations as deemed necessary by management; and will review and correct all log entries submitted by officers as well as review and correct special reports submitted by officers.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Virginia Driver's License
- Law Enforcement, Public Safety, or related fields and positions meeting and dealing with the general public as a supplier of services
- Previous experience as a supervisor
