About the role

Position Summary

San Diego State University is seeking an Associate Registrar, Evaluations and Academic Scheduling (Administrator I) to play a key leadership role within the Office of the Registrar. Reporting to the University Registrar, this position oversees academic scheduling, evaluation of transfer credit, and the digital degree planning systems, ensuring timely graduation processing and student success. The Associate Registrar provides strategic direction, supervises a large professional staff, and serves as a vital liaison across Enrollment Services, Academic Affairs, and academic colleges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop staff in evaluations, degree audit, and academic scheduling.
  • Ensure compliance with CSU, state, and federal regulations while advancing innovative process improvements.
  • Oversee graduation evaluations, transfer credit articulation, and degree audit systems .
  • Manage the digital degree planner to inform academic scheduling with the goal of reducing course bottlenecks and improving student pathways to graduation.
  • Collaborate with faculty, department leadership, and campus partners to implement and administer student-centered programs.
  • Provide data-driven insights and reporting to inform enrollment management strategies.
  • Serve as a campus resource, promoting open communication, problem-solving, and high-quality student service.

Position Information

  • This is a full-time, at-will role, offering comprehensive benefits.
  • Position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation.
  • Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
  • The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.
 

Department Summary

Enrollment Services consists of Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions, the Office of the Registrar, Prospective Student Services, Out of State, Specialized and International Recruitment, and Enrollment Services Communications. Enrollment Services implements SDSU enrollment management policies and provides services to students from their initial point of interest in SDSU to their graduation.

The Office of the Registrar represents enrollment management programs and provides enrollment services to various constituents across the university in regards to the student academic record, academic class scheduling, and student advising tools. The Office of the Registrar provides service to the students through determination of eligibility for admission to the University, evaluation of academic records to determine the status of completion of degree requirements, assistance with course registration, and advising on the academic record in relation to transfer credit or CSU/SDSU policy. The Office of the Registrar has three managers, three assistant directors, and 40 staff of varying classifications across four distinct units.

The Evaluations and Academic Scheduling unit within the Office of the Registrar brings together the information and resources needed to strategically plan and provide support to the Academic Colleges for enrollment opportunities to meet student enrollment needs.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and applied experience.
  • Minimum of three years progressive management or lead experience within a registrar’s office or related office.

Key Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in the evaluation of student records.
  • Knowledge of Title 5, California Code of Regulations and CSU Executive Orders.
  • Professional experience in a higher education institution or public agencies.
  • Experience working with a degree audit system.
