Summary

The Lead Electrical Engineer provides technical leadership and hands-on troubleshooting for electronic assemblies within an aerospace manufacturing environment subject to ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations). The role strongly emphasizes analog circuitry, component-level analysis, and the ability to read and interpret detailed electrical schematics. The incumbent will drive manufacturing throughput by supporting teams in diagnosing and repairing circuit card assemblies (CCAs) and similar devices, particularly legacy hardware. Practical electronics experience, strong communication skills, and a collaborative approach are essential.

 

All duties are performed in compliance with ITAR; U.S. person status (citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) is required. 

Key Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on troubleshooting of electronic assemblies, including legacy hardware, down to the component level, focusing on analog circuitry.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and equipment documentation to efficiently identify, diagnose, and resolve faults.
• Partner with technicians and colleagues to drive troubleshooting efficiency and support operational throughput
• Use and train others in operating test equipment like oscilloscopes, multimeters, function generators, and soldering tools.
• Communicate clearly and effectively with technicians, supervisors, engineering management, and all relevant stakeholders to resolve production and test issues.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of documentation, work instructions, and reports associated with troubleshooting and repair.
• Adapt to unfamiliar or legacy hardware environments, applying core electronics and troubleshooting skills from the outset; product-specific knowledge will be acquired on the job.
• Support cross-functional reviews that address manufacturing, reliability, and testability from an electronics perspective
• Maintain current knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices relevant to aerospace, high-reliability, and ITAR-governed manufacturing.
• Uphold all actions and documentation to ensure compliance with ITAR and related export control requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair analog electronic circuits at the component level, evidenced by practical hands-on experience
• Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and technical documentation
• Skilled in the use of relevant electronic test equipment
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate and share knowledge across multidisciplinary teams
• Experience working with circuit card assemblies (CCAs), printed circuit boards (PCBs), or similar devices
• Relevant experience may come from a variety of educational and career paths (e.g., electrical engineering, electronics technology, or equivalent practical background); a degree is not strictly required if capability is proven
• Experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, medical devices, or other high-reliability electronics manufacturing sectors is welcome but not required
• Must be a U.S. person as defined by ITAR (citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual per 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)), due to the nature of aerospace manufacturing and regulatory requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience troubleshooting legacy or aging hardware platforms
• Proficiency in soldering and component-level rework
• Experience mentoring or training others in electronics repair and troubleshooting
• Familiarity with configuration control and documentation change management 
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to unique company-specific tools, production platforms, and regulatory procedures

Physical Demands

• Work is conducted in standard office and manufacturing environments.
• Extended periods may be required at a computer or using test equipment; some standing, sitting, and manual dexterity are needed for assembly and troubleshooting
• Occasional travel may be necessary.

• Immediate, in-depth knowledge of specific product platforms is not required; core skills in analog troubleshooting and electronics must be ready to apply from the outset The role’s primary focus is expertise in hands-on, component-level analog troubleshooting and production support, not general process engineering.
