Job Summary

We are looking for passionate, and talented cybersecurity researchers who have genuine excitement for and interest in cybersecurity. As a Security Research Engineer, you’ll be engaging as a programmatic and subject matter expert to advance Comcast’s cybersecurity posture through conducting research and development. You will conduct research on established as well as emerging cybersecurity technologies and identify how they can be incorporated into the Comcast technology stacks. You will collaborate across a variety of stakeholders, including product owners, legal, business leaders, and security experts and engage in a variety of research areas.
In addition to core cybersecurity responsibilities, you will leverage AI-driven techniques and data analysis to enhance threat detection, anomaly identification, and predictive security models. This includes applying machine learning algorithms, statistical analysis, and data visualization to uncover patterns in large-scale security datasets and improve decision-making.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities  

  • Lead innovative cybersecurity initiatives by developing advanced proofs of concept that elevate state‑of‑the‑art threat detection and protection.
  • Integrate open‑source security solutions into existing systems to enhance overall security capabilities.
  • Guide the successful delivery of high‑impact, revenue‑critical programs and provide technical leadership within key research domains.
  • Define technical requirements for applications and platforms, ensuring clear alignment with product and organizational needs.
  • Lead the design and implementation of applications and platforms, partnering closely with product teams and other stakeholders throughout development.
  • Develop specifications, algorithms, and frameworks that shape future products and custom security solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Cybersecurity, Privacy, Machine Learning Security, or Data Science.
  • Experience in one of the following languages: Python, JavaScript, C, and Java.
  • Experience in large‑scale data analysis and generating threat intelligence using advanced analytics and machine learning techniques.
  • Experience in building AI models and designing LLM‑based solutions, including architecture design, performance evaluation, and production deployment.
  • Knowledge of one of the following Cloud services: AWS, Azure, Google, or other cloud platforms.
  • An established publication record or record of public speaking on cybersecurity topics.
  • Strong experience with on (or more) of the following areas:
    • Application security: Static & dynamic analysis
    • Network defense: Intrusion detection
    • Security Architecture: Data protection, Secure application development, Cryptography
    • Risk assessment: Source code scan, Data-centric risk assessment
    • Machine learning applications in security
    • Privacy engineering: Data privacy, Privacy by design, Machine learning (Privacy enhancing machine learning)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MS in Cybersecurity, Privacy, Machine Learning Security, or Data Science.
  • 2+ years of industry experience for MS, 1 year of postdoctoral or industry experience for PhD.
  • Experience building proof of concepts. (Note: You do not need to be a software developer. But you should be able to code.)
  • Knowledge of emerging cybersecurity technologies, threats, mitigations, and security industry trends.
  • Knowledge of networking protocol
