SGI Global is seeking a Paralegal to support The US Attorney's Office, District of New Mexico. The Paralegal will support the Affirmative Civil Enforcement (ACE) program and will be assigned tasks related to cases and matters that vary in scope and complexity. Many of these matters characteristically involve complex financial and regulatory issues and schemes which result in voluminous amounts of incoming and outgoing materials produced in multiple formats.

Job Duties:
- Provide a variety of paralegal services to assist AUSAs, including but not limited to the following:
- Seek information and locate new sources of information in aid of ACE investigations and litigation through contacts or correspondence with law enforcement as well as officials from other governmental agencies, witnesses, and counsel.
- Independently gather factual material.
- Use a variety of automated legal research tools, as well as public information databases and other automated resources, to research case or program specific legal matters, and to participate in civil proceedings, e.g. electronic discovery.
- Read, annotate, and summarize documents, files, records, transcripts, and other aspects of the case file.
- Prepare case-summary binders.
- Obtain financial and statistical information.
- Request, obtain, and review agency, court, and other public records.
- Analyze documents and draft court filings and memoranda for AUSA review.
- Have working knowledge of and experience with state and federal court systems, civil discovery and litigation, legal research procedures and resources, and financial fraud investigations.
- Familiarization with electronic court filing records and databases, to include the federal ECF/Pacer system. Provide litigation assistance and technical work requiring a specialized knowledge of electronic information storage processes and procedures for files and information maintained by the USAO, Court Clerk, and courts.
- Organize and manage a substantial quantity of records (often hundreds or thousands of pages of electronically stored evidence per case), documents, data, and discovery.
- Review and tag large defense document productions and briefing affirmative civil enforcement attorney(s) on findings from these reviews.
- Conduct financial analyses and related investigations of individuals and organizations to determine their ability to satisfy a judgment or settlement.
- Prepare subpoenas and review, organize, and summarize large productions in response to such subpoenas.
- Review a wide variety of documents via various platforms (including using e-discovery tools).
- Assist attorneys prepare for and attend hearings, depositions, and trials.
- Review case related material, analyze, and summarize health care treatment and billing records for attorney use.
- Prepare discovery demands and organize, review, and analyze discovery responses.
- Prepare preliminary drafts of simple legal memoranda, documents, and correspondence for AUSA review and signature.
- Provide automated litigation support to attorneys in trial preparation, depositions, and courtroom presentations. Utilize various software applications, platforms, and graphics hardware including scanners and plotters. Prepare documents, charts, and visual materials for use in trials. Provide technical support (e.g., enlarging charts and photographs, duplicating tapes and videos, and marking exhibits).
- Perform moderately complex legal research using various legal (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis, PACER) and law-enforcement (e.g., CLEAR and Accurint) tools.
- Create and manipulate MS Excel spreadsheets.
- Be proficient in a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems (e.g., MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Acrobat Adobe).
- Hands-on familiarity with ESI (Electronic Storage Information) tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
- Occasional travel may be necessary, relating to cases, special projects and/or for training.
