The Account Director is a key leadership role within our agency, responsible for managing and growing client accounts. This individual will collaborate with various teams, including creative, strategy, analytics, and production, to ensure the efficient execution of marketing campaigns and projects. The Account Director will play a critical role in driving operational excellence, optimizing processes both internally and with clients, and fostering strong client relationships. They will be responsible for managing and developing a team of account management professionals both in the US and in the Philippines.
This is a contract position covering for maternity leave; the term will run from August through March. The role is hybrid - 3 days a week in our NYC office - with the expectation of occasional client visits.
What You’ll Do:
- Client Relationship Management: Collaborate closely with account managers to understand client requirements, develop project plans, and ensure successful project delivery. Provide strategic guidance and support to account teams to maintain and strengthen client relationships.
- Operational Leadership: Lead the account operations team in executing and optimizing operational processes to ensure our output is high-quality and timely.
- Process Optimization: Continuously assess and improve operational processes, workflows, and tools to enhance efficiency, quality, and overall performance. Identify areas for automation and implement solutions to streamline operations.
- Resource Allocation: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to allocate resources effectively, ensuring optimal utilization of personnel and assets. Monitor project timelines and budgets to ensure successful delivery within established parameters.
- Team Management: Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing account operations team. Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Performance Analysis: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for the account operations team and regularly monitor and report on performance metrics. Identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to drive operational excellence.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding account operations. Collaborate with senior management to provide updates, insights, and recommendations on operational performance and client satisfaction.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and issues related to account operations and develop proactive mitigation strategies. Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and best practices.
- Industry Awareness: Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and marketing best practices. Share knowledge and insights with the team to drive innovation and enhance operational capabilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Proven experience (10+ years) in account management within a marketing agency or similar environment.
- Strong leadership abilities with a track record of managing and developing high-performing teams.
- In-depth understanding of marketing operations, project management methodologies, and creative production processes.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
- Familiarity with marketing technologies, automation tools, and project management software.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
