About the role

The Sr. Tax Accountant is responsible for supporting tax compliance and strategy for WellSky and its subsidiaries and affiliates. The scope of this job includes compliance activities related to federal, state, and local tax, resolving outstanding tax issues, and researching the tax effects of business decisions and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare tax work papers to support tax filings and prepare miscellaneous tax filings, including business registrations, property taxes, foreign GST, etc.
  • Assist in preparation of quarterly and annual cash tax projections and forecasts of consolidated taxable income and tax expense.
  • Review quarterly estimates and extensions, coordinate related payments, and provide G/L support, including account reconciliations for tax-related accounts.
  • Gather data from multiple jurisdictions and coordinate with external providers on federal, state, and local tax compliance.
  • Review monthly sales and use tax workpapers and related tax filings, prepare payment requests and related monthly journal entries, and maintain and track exemption certificates.
  • Provide tax guidance and support to various departments, research various tax laws and regulations, and assist with responses to tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities.
  • Focus on continuous improvement in tax processes.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • At least 4-6 years of relevant work experience
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel

  • Willing to work additional or irregular hours as needed
  • Must work in accordance with applicable security policies and procedures to safeguard company and client information
  • Must be able to sit and view a computer screen for extended periods of time
