DOC is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Registered Nurse (RN) for On-Call positions at Coyote Ridge Corrections Center outside of the Tri Cities in Connell, WA. Shift: On- Call- Various work schedule expected. 

Coyote Ridge Corrections Center has a diverse population seeing different chronic diseases and taking care of those that need long term and palliative care.

Correctional Health is a rewarding career path at DOC, in which health care professionals treat a wide array of cases for patients residing in a state correctional facility. Health Services is responsible for basic primary care for incarcerated individuals. All disciplines within all of the 12 correctional facilities work closely together to reach a common goal, providing the best, most efficient, and cost-effective health care possible. Emphasis is placed on early identification of health concerns, care for acute and chronic health problems, and preventive care.

Registered Nurses will receive shift differential in the amount of two dollars and fifty cents ($2.50) per hour for evening shift and night shift work. Employees may also qualify for one or both of these supplemental shift premiums in addition to the above.
A. One dollar ($1.00) per hour during any hours assigned to work from 11:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m.
B. Three dollars ($3.00) per hour during any hours worked from Friday midnight to Sunday midnight.

On-Call Nurses must:
  • Be available to work all shifts (day, swing and graveyard) including weekends and holidays.
  • To qualify for benefits upon hire, you must be willing to work 10 shifts a month.
  • Provide written availability by the 10th of each month for the following month's coverage.
  • Be willing to complete a paid three-week correctional worker core training M-F from 8 to 4:30 pm.

Examples of duties

Duties include:

  • Practice nursing safely and effectively in the correctional setting and within the scope of practice defined by state law and administrative code.
    1. Assess, monitor, and interpret objective and subjective data.
    2. Develop nursing diagnoses and outcomes to be achieved because of nursing intervention.
    3. Plan the delivery of health care, defining timeframes and pathways for delivery of services, prioritizing and sequencing care.
    4. Implement care plans by providing direct patient care, directing others about the urgency, timeframes, and methods to deliver health care on and off site, determining when needs for care or services become more urgent, require clarification, or require another type or level of intervention.  Obtain provider orders and accomplish prescribed interventions in a timely and clinically responsive manner.
    5. Analyze and evaluate the structure, process, and timeframes for service delivery, the expected effects of treatment or intervention, and the outcomes to be achieved. Revise the plan of care as necessary.
