Job Description:

The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences at Louisiana State University is searching for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Veterinary Practice Skills.  This position is non-tenure track with starting level commensurate with experience. This person will assist in a variety of teaching and examination activities including laboratory sessions in clinical and surgical skills, and communication skills. Additionally, they will provide support to LSU's NAVLE student preparation efforts through mentorship and educational sessions. There is potential for clinical education opportunities dependent on the interest of the candidate and need in the teaching hospital.

Job Responsibilities:

60%-Instruct in clinical and surgical skills laboratories across years 1-4 in the DVM program.

10%-Instruct in professional development and communication skills labs across years 1-4 in the DVM program.

10%-Develop and administer objective structured clinical skills examinations (OSCEs).

10%-Provide mentorship and NAVLE-focused educational sessions to students in years 3 & 4.

10%-Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
 

Assistant Professor: DVM or equivalent degree; three years of veterinary clinical practice experience AND some academic experience in veterinary education.
Associate Professor: DVM or equivalent degree; five years of academic experience in veterinary education AND veterinary clinical practice experience, with internal review by LSU for relevant qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

DVM or equivalent; more than five years of academic experience in veterinary education AND veterinary clinical practice experience AND two or more years of adult education experience. Experience in any of the following aspects of veterinary education: basic veterinary surgical training, communication skills, clinical skills.
