FOUNTAIN MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN POSITION SUMMARY

The Authority is currently recruiting a Fountain Maintenance Technician to join Georgia World Congress Center. The Fountain Maintenance Technician is primarily responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of water features and associated mechanical and electrical systems in Centennial Olympic Park. The Fountain Maintenance Technician works closely with facility managers and campus operators to ensure aesthetic and functional standards are maintained. FOUNTAIN MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is moderately exposed to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. The ability to lift 50 pounds or more may be required of this position. Daily shifts will endure various degrees of walking, standing, turning, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching, pushing and pulling, requiring a full range of body movements. This position may require work inside or outside of the building, physical plant, as needed by events.

 

FOUNTAIN MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Under the direction of the Campus Horticulturalist, the Fountain Maintenance Technician uses electrical, plumbing, shop and irrigation skills to service, install, inspect, troubleshoot and repair water features and associated equipment.
  • Operate, maintain, perform and supervise work to keep the interior and surrounding parameter of fountains and water features clear of debris and safety issues.
  • Monitor and maintain the operations of all of the various mechanical, electrical, and chemical systems associated with operation of the fountain.
  • Monitor, review and implement operational techniques to enhance efficiencies and maintain all systems in accordance with applicable codes.
  • Track work utilizing computerized work order system for record keeping.
  • Monitor the operation of the Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and make repairs and preventive maintenance as necessary, repairs shall be documented with work orders.
  • Monitor the operation of the variable frequency drives (VFD) and associated pumps and jets.

  • Monitor the operation of the sand filter system, ensuring the proper cycling of the back wash operations.
  • Read and evaluate chemical stability of the water in the fountain of rings, reflecting pool, and river water features daily the results of the test shall be recorded in a log and necessary adjustments made and noted; monitor the operation of the chemical injection systems in each of the water features to insure the proper and safe operation.
  • Assist with the operation and maintenance of other water features as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Notify supervisor of equipment and facilities requiring repair or replacement.
  • Participate in periodic departmental meetings as required.
