Job Summary
The Chief of Staff to the CPO is a high-visibility leadership role that serves as a force multiplier for the Chief Procurement Officer and the global Procurement organization. Operating at the intersection of strategy, execution, and organizational effectiveness, this leader will run the Office of the CPO, drive the function’s strategic planning and operating cadence, and stand up and lead the Procurement Project Management Office (PMO) — the governance engine that ensures the function’s transformation initiatives, cost programs, and cross-functional projects deliver measurable results on time and on budget.

This role is ideal for a strategic operator who combines executive presence and exceptional communication skills with the discipline of a world-class program manager. The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor and proxy for the CPO, translate strategy into an executable portfolio of initiatives, and create the transparency, accountability, and rhythm that a high-performing global procurement organization requires. Equally important, the role requires a leader who can seamlessly switch between strategic priorities and transactional responsibilities, ensuring effective day-to-day execution of key activities such as meeting cadence, leadership off-site coordination and governance processes.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the CPO to shape, articulate, and operationalize the multi-year Procurement strategy, ensuring alignment with Equinix’s corporate priorities and financial objectives

  • Serve as a thought partner and trusted advisor to the CPO — pressure-testing ideas, synthesizing complex issues into clear options and recommendations, and preparing the CPO for high-stakes decisions and engagements

  • Lead the annual strategic planning process for the Procurement function, including goal setting, OKR/KPI development, and cascading objectives across the leadership team

  • Leverage data, benchmarking, and market intelligence to identify opportunities for value creation, cost savings, process improvement, and supplier optimization, and present actionable recommendations to the CPO

Procurement Project Management Office (PMO) Leadership

  • Design, launch, and lead the Procurement PMO, establishing the charter, governance model, standards, and tooling for managing the function’s portfolio of projects and transformation initiatives

  • Own portfolio governance end-to-end: manage project intake, prioritization, and resource capacity planning; ensure the portfolio is aligned to strategic priorities and balanced across run-the-business and change-the-business work

  • Establish and enforce consistent project management methodologies, stage gates, templates, and quality standards across all Procurement initiatives, flexing between waterfall and agile approaches as appropriate

  • Build and maintain portfolio-level visibility through executive dashboards, status reporting, and a disciplined operating rhythm of program reviews with clear escalation paths

  • Develop project management capability across the Procurement organization through training, coaching, playbooks, and communities of practice

Office of the CPO & Operating Cadence

  • Run the operating rhythm of the Procurement leadership team: design and manage the cadence of leadership meetings, annual planning, KPI governance, quarterly business reviews, offsites, and town halls — owning agendas, content, decisions, and follow-through on actions

  • Synthesize operational, financial, and organizational data into executive insights, identifying emerging risks, opportunities, and decisions requiring leadership attention

  • Manage the CPO’s engagement priorities, ensuring the CPO’s time is focused on the highest-value activities, and represent the CPO in meetings and decision forums as delegated

  • Liase with the Communications team to ensure alignment and CPO preparation for organizational announcements, all
