The Parking and Transportation Services Department is seeking students interested in employment in maintenance support. This position is considered ‘general labor’ and is not an office job.
Note: This position is subject to a pre-employment, post-accident and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol test. The candidate selected for hire will be required to sign a form acknowledging this policy.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the cleanliness of parking garages and parking lots;
- Pick up debris and trash during routine patrol of the area; and
- Assist Maintenance Team with the installation of parking signs, striping parking lots, painting curbs and spaces, installing parking bumper blocks, sign poles, and meters.
Required Qualifications
- Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno.
- Candidate must be able to work through winter and summer breaks.
- Candidate must be dependable, reliable, thorough, motivated, and detail oriented.
- Candidate must be able to work as a member of a team and follow instructions.
A valid Class “C” driver’s license or higher operator’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. The successful candidates must complete the Defensive Driving course shortly after hire.
Driving carts on busy campus roads along with pedestrians is required for this position.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
- Walking or standing to a significant degree
- Pushing and/or pulling
- Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Exposure to hot and cold temperatures when working outside
Schedule
- Start Time: 6:00 am
- During Semester: Up to 25 hours a week
- During Breaks: Up to 40 hours a week
