Job Summary:
Directs overall clinical, quality, administrative and fiscal aspects of the cardiopulmonary services department. Plans and directs operational functions, including respiratory therapy services and pulmonary rehabilitation programs. Develops and maintains policies, procedures and accreditation. Supervises department managers in assigned facilities, department staffing, quality control and compliance with regulations, policies and laws. Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned personnel using both professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgment.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required
- Master's Degree: Preferred
- Seven years' technical experience: Preferred
- Five years' leadership experience: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- NBRC credentials as a Certified Respiratory Technician or Registered Respiratory Therapist with a current, professional state license or Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Preferred
- Clinical specialty and/or nursing administration certification: Preferred
Facility Specific License/Certifications:
- State Respiratory Therapist (RCP/RRT): Required
Essential Functions:
- Manages, directs and leads departmental staff to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency. Exercises independent judgment when recruiting, training, coaching, supervising and responsibly directing assigned staff. Creates and promotes clear departmental visions that support organizational strategic plans and are defined by the strategic goals and objectives that support organizational day to day activities. Sets expectations, develops plans and manages processes that measure, assess and improve clinical service quality. Provides leadership to ensure patient satisfaction, needs and expectations are met. Ensures financial goal achievement, continuous quality improvement, accreditation and regulatory requirement compliance and patient satisfaction.
- Coordinates care, services and programming across departments and services. Demonstrates appropriate clinical knowledge as well as leadership traits. Accountable for ongoing review, evaluation and revision of patient care standards. Assists managers with role development, timelines, milestones, resource utilization and project evaluation.
- Ensures compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
