SUMMARY
The General Manager (GM) is the top-level manager in our restaurants. The GM has full profit and loss
responsibility and manages the overall operations of the restaurant. He/she manages staffing levels
and develops assistant managers, shift leads and team members to deliver store performance that
executes Shakey’s Fast, Friendly, Clean standards and achieves store financial objectives. Ensures store
sanitation, safety and security practices. The General Manager reports to a Regional Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The following responsibilities are representative of the GM position. Other duties may be assigned.
- Plans, directs and monitors all restaurant operations.
- Manages restaurant profit and loss (P&L) to weekly, period and annual revenue and expense budgets, analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions.
- Attains restaurant budget targets on a weekly, period and annual basis.
- Creates a team environment that delivers outstanding operations performance and guest service every day.
- Executes in-store promotional campaigns and conducts local marketing activities in the community.
- Trains and coaches assistant managers, shift leads and team members to drive the execution of Shakey’s "Fast, Friendly, Clean" culture and standards.
- Manages restaurant hiring and staffing levels to ensure adequate coverage during all shifts and day parts.
- Consistently monitors restaurant operations to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Develops and implements a positive learning and training environment for all team members and delivers training on all work stations.
- Assesses team member performance and provides ongoing coaching, counseling and recognition feedback.
- Reviews Market Force, Sprinkler and New Brands data to identify and address issues in guest satisfaction performance.
- Takes food, supply and merchandise inventories and places orders to restock.
- Creates store manager and team member work schedules and posts them on a timely basis.
- Ensures compliance with Shakey’s cash handling, safety/security and Team Member Handbook policies and procedures.
- Ensures ServSafe and Food Handler practices regarding all aspects food handling, preparation, serving and storage.
- Maintains compliance with all employment and labor laws.
- Maintains a safe work environment and ensures adherence to all safety standards and procedures.
- Manages restaurant operations to satisfactorily pass quarterly internal financial audits.
- Inspects food storage and preparation practices to maintain quality standards and comply with sanitation regulations.
- Investigates and resolves food quality and guest service complaints.
- Works in any work station when required to support efficient restaurant operations.
- Conducts regular all-team meetings to discuss store performance opportunities and recognize achievements.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly supervises 20 to 30 employees. Carries out supervisory
responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities
include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work;
appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving
problems.
