The Senior Accountant will be reporting to the Director, Accounting.  This role will be responsible for complex revenue analysis and accounting, customer contract reviews and preparing account reconciliations.  There will be a focus on financial projects and ad hoc analysis.  Candidate will possess at least four years of finance or accounting experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA is preferred along with proven knowledge of US GAAP. The successful candidate should have a solid understanding of accounting journal entries and a high level of computer literacy on Microsoft Office products, accuracy/attention to detail and mathematical logic.  Candidate must be comfortable with financial analysis, including strong spreadsheet skills and should have a willingness to learn, proven ability to work independently, and be a strong team player.  Candidate must be a flexible independent thinker with the capability to adhere to tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks and requests in a fast-paced environment.  The candidate should possess strong communication skills, particularly when dealing with non-financial business partners.   

Responsibilities:

• Review customer contracts to ensure accuracy of revenue recognition.
• Record monthly complex revenue transactions including the allocation of contractual performance obligations and breakage revenue.
• Understand US GAAP requirements relevant to the financial cycles supported.
• Record and analyze assigned department opex accounting.
• Record foreign currency transactions.
• Conduct analyses of balance sheet and operating results by investigating variances, including reviewing for accuracy and classification appropriateness.
• Maintain accurate and complete records for audits and provide audit support as it relates to external and ad hoc audits.
• Generate transactional data and ad-hoc analysis to support operational decision making, with recommendations.
• Drive continuous improvement projects that mitigate risk and drive efficiency in work processes for the Finance team.
• Cross-train and act as a back-up to peers on the accounting team.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA designation or working towards a CPA designation.
• Minimum 4 years of accounting, reporting and analysis experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build relationships with business partners.
• Ability to prioritize deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with US GAAP is strongly preferred.
• Direct experience in a Software as a Service (“SAAS”) environment is an asset.
• Experience with NetSuite and Adaptive is an asset.
