Your Opportunity
As an Assistant Project Manager (APM) in the Telecom business unit, you will support the Project Manager in the successful execution of wireless infrastructure projects, including site acquisition, permitting, design coordination, and construction tracking. You will help manage deliverables, timelines, and client expectations across multiple telecom deployments, ensuring compliance with carrier standards and local regulations.
Your Key Responsibilities
The Assistant Project Manager is responsible to assist the Project Manager with all project management functions, as directed by the Project Manager. The Assistant Project Manager shall complete the assigned tasks / functions based on the input and direction provided by the Project Manager, and with direct oversight by the project manager; including but not limited to the following project management tasks:
- Assist in managing wireless site development projects from site acquisition hand-off through engineering.
- Coordinate with engineering, drafting, site acquisition, permitting, and field teams to support design compliance, site readiness, and deliverable quality.
- Track project documentation, including contracts, financials, QA/QC reviews, and work authorizations; assist in scope-change management and additional service estimates.
- Review and redline lease exhibits, construction drawings, zoning documents, and photo simulations.
- Support permitting and zoning efforts, including document preparation and submission.
- Maintain project trackers, schedules, and budgets; report progress to senior PMs and clients.
- Facilitate project kick-offs, client meetings, and progress communications; act as a point of contact for project status updates.
- Ensure compliance with client guidelines and jurisdictional codes.
- Support QA/QC processes and ensure deliverables meet quality standards.
- Help identify risks and blockers and escalate issues to the Project Manager.
- Participate in cross-selling Stantec services and support new business pursuits.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Possess basic knowledge of engineering practices within own discipline and basic knowledge of practices and principles of other disciplines.
- Strong familiarity with telecom design standards, permitting processes, and site development requirements
- Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills; able to communicate clearly with internal teams and clients
- Capable of multitasking, prioritizing under tight deadlines, and working both independently and collaboratively in fast-paced projects
- Willing to travel to project sites regionally as needed
- Experience with Excel, project tracking tools, and MS Office Suite
Education and Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in telecommunications project coordination, site acquisition or engineering design, including OSP, in‑building wireless, or fiber construction.
- Familiarity with wireless infrastructure lifecycle: leasing, permitting, design, and construction.
