The Role:
The Senior Systems Engineer will act as a Lead in the "Move to Virtual" strategic initiative coordinating with Analysis Engineers in the "Virtual Design Development and Validation" VDDV analysis and simulation space. This role is part of the CAE Tools group that supports Vehicle Engineering, Design, and Test IT.
In this application owner and software development role, you will be the IT owner and responsible for developing software applications using sound, repeatable, industry standard methodologies. You will have the opportunity to work with business owners and hands-on writing software or solutions, based on detailed requirements and system specifications. Development activities will include updating existing software and/or developing new software solutions to address a specific need or solve a particular business problem.
Additionally, you will drive development activities in accordance with appropriate methodologies and application of a repeatable, systematic and quantifiable approach to the development process. You will coach/mentor software developers and will review the software being developed. This role will also work closely with architects and/or data scientists to ensure code alignment with design patterns/frameworks.
Key skills needed:
This role is a lead role in the "Move to Virtual" strategic initiative coordinating with Analysis Engineers in the "Virtual Design Development and Validation" VDDV analysis and simulation space. In this application owner and software development role, you will be the IT owner and responsible for developing and/or deploying Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) software applications in Windows Client environment as well as Linux High Performance Computing (HPC) and High-End Remote Visualization Graphics environments (GPU). You will be using sound, repeatable, industry standard methodologies. You will have the opportunity to work directly with business owners of CAE software.
What You'll Need (Responsibilities):
- Work with "Virtual Design Development and Validation" VDDV (CAE) Analysis Engineers to develop software solutions based on detailed requirements and system specifications.
- Lead configuration, packaging and deployment of CAE Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software and licenses for Windows and High Performance Compute (HPC) environments, both on-premises and cloud.
- Lead development of internal homegrown Applications using sound, repeatable, industry standard methodologies.
- Work closely with architects and/or data scientists to ensure code alignment with design patterns/frameworks.
- Root-cause & resolve operational issues related to the supported Applications.
- Coach & mentor junior software developers and review the software being developed.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related areas
- 5+ years of experience in automotive engineering business applications & development
- Minimum 3 years of experience with Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) software deployment
- Experience with Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) and High Performance Compute (HPC)
- Experience with CAE Tools packaging and deployment automation
- Experience building and managing applications on Azure or other cloud environments.
- Excellent technical knowledge of Windows and/or Linux Operating Systems environments.
- Good understanding of agile software development best practices
- Basic Understanding of AI/ML implementations in automotive engineering business
