Job Purpose
BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Manager, Systems Engineering. The Manager, Systems Engineering will be responsible to lead teams, develop systems competencies, develop product know how, plan department activities and budget, drive engineering development process, and support customer escalations. Additionally, this individual shall work with a cross functional team of software, electrical, and mechanical disciplines for the development of eMobility mass mark Onboard Charger and DC/DC Converter.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish with System Project leaders a project organizational strategy and System Development resources to support customers and projects lead in North America by building a highly efficient regional team in alignment with the global organization
- Monitor the project activities of all engineering disciplines, like Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, System Engineering, Validation, etc.
- Identify project gap and develop/support/track the resolution plan to be sure it is addressed in time
- Manage team recruitment to meet the growth of eMobility
- Elevate the Systems Engineering practice to the next level including system project leadership, configuration and change management and problem resolution towards better alignment with systems requirements engineering, systems architecture development, feature based systems and controls development, Cyber Security, Functional safety and systems functional testing and product validation
- Drive the adoption of the Electronics Development Framework (EDF) and adhere to industry standards like ASPICE, ISO26262 for Functional Safety and ISO21434 for Cyber security
- Build and lead the regional team for systems engineering execution, which drives the synthesis to balance and drive reliable system solutions
- Provide technology leadership, engineering guidance, and mentoring to the systems engineering teams
- Establish and follow global engineering methods and design guides to produce high quality work that supports the product launches and ensure that it meets customer and internal design quality and cost targets
- Manage strong and fair customer relationships
- Manage the System Lead Engineering budget
- Effectively communicate expectations of performance and manage, evaluate, monitor, and develop the employees under the incumbent’s influence/control to ensure their maximum contribution to the achievement of the PowerDrive Systems technology strategy and business goals
- Foster the collaborative development environment for project teams. Consider and seek out the impact of his/her actions with other engineering leadership. Actively seek collaboration with internal and external team members
- Manage Engineering Change Requests
- Interface with the project team members in global locations
- Contribute to a team-work focused approach and provide guidance to select the best solutions and make it a reality.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s/Master’s in Systems, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering with focus on electric powertrain systems and complex automotive systems projects
- 10+ years of experience in Automotive Engineering
- Minimum 5 years in system engineering leadership roles, project organization, process development, managing customer, or planning and resource for complex products
- Proven and successful record leading an engineering development team with strong team building and motivational skills, with a vis
