Detailed Position Information
The Music Education department at the University of Alabama invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor of Music Education with a start date of August 16, 2025. This is a nine-month, non-tenure-earning position.

Responsibilities: · Teach music education course work at the undergraduate level in the Department of Music Education, with a course load of 4-5 courses per fall and spring semester. · Fulfill service roles in the department and college. · Provides guidance to master’s level, educational specialist, and doctoral graduate students in the department involved in teaching general music courses to non-music education majors. · Oversees the scheduling, curriculum, and teaching of PreK classroom instruction as part of the School of Music’s PreK initiative.

Minimum Qualifications
· Earned doctorate degree (PhD preferred) in Music Education;

· Active certification (or certification eligible) in music education in Alabama. · Evidence of at least 10 years of effective contractual teaching experience at the elementary, secondary, and/or college levels;

· Demonstrated evidence of willingness and/or experience (preferred) supporting PreK, elementary, and/or secondary-aged student populations.

· Demonstrated evidence of willingness and/or experience (preferred) to teach music education and non-music education majors;

· Demonstrated evidence of willingness and/or experience (preferred) working/collaborating with preK-12 music teachers.

· Demonstrated evidence of willingness to support the integration of music instruction in the elementary classroom.
