Responsibilities and Impact:
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Software Engineer (Java Developer) with over 3 years of experience in building scalable and fault-tolerant Java applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Spring Boot and Microservices, along with a preferred background in AWS, Docker, and UI development using React JS. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and deploying innovative technology solutions for S&P Global Ratings products, leveraging cutting-edge technologies.
- Oversee the complete SDLC: architecture, design, development, and support of technical solutions using Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices architecture.
- Develop high-quality, scalable, and fault-tolerant web applications using Java, Spring Boot, and other open-source Java frameworks, including RESTful web services.
- Implement user interfaces using React JS.
- Perform application containerization and deployments through CI/CD pipelines, utilizing AWS services like S3, EKS, EC2, etc.
- Conduct enterprise-level integrations using Kafka, REST, OKTA, Secret Manager, Oauth2 Authentication etc.
- Produce technical design documents, conduct walkthroughs, and create diagrams for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Actively participate in all scrum ceremonies, following SAFe/AGILE best practices, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Identify and correct bottlenecks, fix bugs, and respond promptly to production issues.
- Implement observability, monitoring, and troubleshooting using tools such as Splunk, ELK, Jaeger, etc.
- Maintain code quality, organization, and automation while staying up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends.
Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates)
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $90,000 to $115,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.
In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan.

What We’re Looking For:
Basic Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3+ years of experience in software development, with strong expertise in Java and Spring Framework for concurrent and distributed systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Strong experience in designing and implementing REST APIs and microservices-based solutions using Spring Boot.
- Solid understanding of data models, data architecture, and experience with Oracle 12C (PL/SQL). Proficiency in writing SQL queries and working with relational databases.
- Experience in design, development, and architectural exposure, ensuring quality across technology components developed by geographically diverse teams.
- Experience writing unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and reliability.
- Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies such as SAFe/Agile and test-driven development (TDD).
- Proficiency with IDEs, version control systems like Git, CI/CD tools like Azure DevOps, unit-testing tools, and defect management tools.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with the Financial Industry and Capital Markets.
- Working knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, ECS, Load Balancer, Security Groups, EMR, Lambda, S3, Glue, etc.
