Role Summary

MPC is seeking a Data Engineer with 5+ years of experience to develop, deploy, and maintain data pipelines and data storage ecosystems. The Data Engineer will develop code to implement extract, transform, and load (ETL) processes on ingested data, deploy and manage data manipulation, lineage, and cataloging tools and techniques, and manage and maintain a robust data capability to our client. 

What You Will Be Doing

  • Create and maintain databases and schemas to include tables, views, functions, procedures, triggers, constraints, etc. 
  • Develop and configure data processing and storage tools to promote performance, maintainability, flexibility, and security.
  • Help in the development and decomposition of end user needs and requirements
  • Create, review, and maintain data dictionary/catalog documentation and ecosystem documentation. 
  • Troubleshoot data issues to identify root causes, propose recommendations, and implement solutions that will improve data availability, increase data quality, and optimize performance. 

What We Need From You (Required) 

  • US Citizenship required. 
  • A minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience with database administration, configuration, and management.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on experience with cloud frameworks and tools (e.g. AWS or Azure Services, GitHub Runners), Data Lineage/Cataloging (e.g. Collibra), ELT/ETL Tools (e.g. Snowflake). 
  • Working understanding of data modeling techniques for both transactional and analytical data stores.
  • Data integration experience with Python, SQL, and other relevant languages from development to implementation.
  • Familiar with performance-tuning databases, SQL scripts, and clean coding techniques.

Bonus Points (Desired)

  • Consulting experience in a federal government environment.
  • Data engineering experience on an enterprise scale, integrating multiple systems with various data structures.
  • Familiar with migrating on-prem databases and reports to the cloud (preferably AWS).
  • Master’s degree in data analytics engineering, computer science, or related technical major.
  • AWS Professional Certifications for Data Engineering and/or Cloud Engineering
  • Experience with Terraform/Ansible
