About this opportunity:
Cenovus Energy is in need of an experienced finance leader to become part of our Toledo Refinery team as the Senior Manager, Refinery Accounting. Leading a team, ensuring adherence to financial and regulatory standards while communicating business results to partners. Reporting to the Director Downstream Manufacturing Accounting, you will be a crucial player in the plan to support the successful implementation of our long-range strategies.

What you’ll do:
Oversee Finance Department operations, set team goals, and drive staff development through coaching and feedback
Act as key liaison between refinery leadership and corporate finance, supporting both accounting and strategic decision-making
Ensure accurate financial reporting and strong internal controls through collaboration on monthly close, accruals, and analysis
Lead performance reporting cycles including actuals, forecasts, budgets, and long-term plans, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Partner with business leaders to analyze financial results, identify performance drivers, and implement corrective actions
Support strategic planning efforts including Annual Plan and Strategy Refresh, aligning financials with operational goals
Manage audit processes (internal, external, SOX) and ensure accurate balance sheet reconciliations
Drive continuous improvement by optimizing business processes, tools, and performance models in alignment with corporate guidance
Who you are:
Legally authorized to work in the US
Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, or Economics or equivalent experience
Refinery experience
Proven finance background with strong leadership skills
Analytical, financial control, reporting, and business insight skills
Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint
Strong interpersonal, networking, and communication abilities
